Refund Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-20
This page explains when you can get a refund for a 3520file purchase, when you cannot, and how to request one. These terms are also incorporated into our Terms of Service (Section "Refunds") — if there is any conflict between the two, the Terms of Service controls.
1. The 24-Hour Window
We offer a full refund if you request one within 24 hours of payment AND you have not yet downloaded the printable PDF for the filing you paid for. Within those constraints we will refund 100% of what we charged you, less the Stripe processing fee Stripe imposed on the original transaction (typically ~3% — Stripe does not return the fee to us when we refund you, so we cannot return it to you).
2. After the PDF Has Been Downloaded
Once you download the printable Form 3520 package, we have delivered the prepared form — the work we charged for is complete. Fees are non-refundable after that point. This is true even if you decide not to mail the form, change your mind about filing, or discover that you did not need to file Form 3520 after all. We recommend reviewing the in-app summary screen before paying so you can confirm the form covers your situation.
3. What If There Is a Defect
If the Form 3520 PDF we produced contains a defect attributable to our software — for example, an FX rate that does not match the rate locked on the transaction record, or a field we filled inconsistently with the IRS instructions — we will re-issue a corrected PDF at no additional charge. We do not consider the following defects: (a) facts you entered incorrectly, (b) line items the IRS instructions explicitly leave to the filer's judgment, or (c) the IRS later requesting additional information. If you believe you have hit a software defect, email support@3520file.com with the filing ID and a description; we respond within two business days.
4. Refunds for Chargebacks and Disputes
If you initiate a chargeback through your card network instead of contacting us first, we will respond to the chargeback with whatever evidence the network requires. We strongly prefer to resolve refund requests directly. Chargebacks that fail in our favor remain non-refundable on our side. If a chargeback succeeds against us we may suspend your account; if you re-open a filing you previously chargebacked, you may be asked to pay again before we re-issue the PDF.
5. Subscription and Annual-Reminder Refunds
3520file is one-time pay per filing — we do not currently bill on a subscription. If we introduce a subscription product in the future (for example, an annual reminder plan), we will publish its own refund terms at that time. Until then, every paid filing is a one-time charge governed by this Refund Policy.
6. How to Request a Refund
Email support@3520file.com from the same email address you used to sign up, with the subject line "Refund request — filing [your filing ID]". Include the filing ID (visible on your dashboard), the date of payment, and a brief description of why you are requesting the refund. We respond within two business days. Approved refunds appear on your card statement within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
7. Refunds Across International Borders
If you paid with a non-US-issued card and a foreign-exchange spread was applied at the time of purchase, the refund we issue is in US dollars at the rate Stripe applies at the time of refund. The amount that arrives in your local currency may differ from the local-currency amount you originally paid — this is a function of currency-rate movement and your card-issuer's FX handling, not a deduction by us.
8. Disputes
If we deny a refund and you disagree, the disputes process described in our Terms of Service applies (binding arbitration or small-claims court, as further explained there). Most refund disagreements get resolved by a second-pair-of-eyes look from our team — please email support@3520file.com first.
