About
Made for one form. Built to do it right.
3520file files one tax form — IRS Form 3520 — for US persons who received large foreign gifts or inheritances. Nothing else.
Why we exist
If you're a US person who received more than $100,000 from a foreign individual or estate, the IRS wants Form 3520. The penalty for missing it is up to 25% of the gift value. TurboTax doesn't support it. CPAs charge $1,000–$3,000 to fill out a four-page form they will see once. We built software so you can do it in about 20 minutes for $99 flat.
Who we are
3520file is built by the small team behind fbarfile.com — software for FinCEN Form 114 (FBAR). Same team, same focus on niche international tax forms that the big tax-prep platforms ignore. 3520file launched in May 2026.
We are not a CPA firm, not a law firm, and not an enrolled agent. We are software that generates a correctly-filled, IRS-formatted Form 3520 PDF from your facts. You sign in pen and mail it certified to the IRS Service Center in Ogden, Utah. The IRS does not e-file Form 3520 — it never has, and we don't pretend otherwise.
What we believe
- One form, done right. Generalist tax software treats Form 3520 as an edge case. We built the entire product around it.
- Flat price, no upsell. $99 Standard. $149 Concierge if you want us to ship a pre-stamped certified-mail envelope to you. No subscriptions, no add-ons, no surprises.
- Honest about scope. We prepare the form. We don't represent you before the IRS or give tax advice. If your situation involves a foreign trust, an active audit, or contested inheritance, see a tax attorney or CPA.
- Compliance-first data handling. Paid tax preparers in the US are legally required to follow IRS Publication 4557 and the FTC Safeguards Rule. We do. Details on our Data Security page.
